Vmp gen 2 vs gen 3

VMP Gen3R what makes it better?

When making the switch, remember the Gen 3 moves far more air. For the same boost you'll want to pick a pulley that's sizes larger than the one used on your Gen 2, Gen 2-R, or Roush unit. Gen 3 has a proprietary throttle body bolt pattern, so you'll want to pick up one of our new throttle bodies.

Or, if you want to continue using your current throttle body, you'll need the adapter plate no charge item if selected. Product is supercharger, new mounting hardware, a Gen3 throttle body gasket, pulley of your choice, pulley bolts, and throttle body hardware.

Fitment: Details. I have the stage 3 gen 2 blower currently on an 85mm pulley. The car currently makes whp and wtq. On the 82mm pulley the car made whp and wtq.

Freeing up your exhaust really helps the supercharger breathe. The vmp throttle body sucked for me because the car kept stalling when in neutral.

We put a ford racing 65mm twin jet throttle body on and it fixed all the issues I was having. Vmp makes a good blower but definitely get the car dyno tuned. I saw more gains and better driveability with a dyno tune.

Bought a stock 5. After installing an insane amount of power has been added to the car I recommend this product to anyone who wants more then just the stock experience will give you. For all you mustang fans out there this is the supercharger you want.

The power of this bad boy is unbelievably more than I expected.

It is well worth the price. The instructions are blurry at times but overall not bad.

I had some issues with parts not being in the box but vmp got them out super fast and without delay. Also I highly recommend you tell AM that you need the tune sheet to fill out because they assumed it was on the tuner and it actually wasn't.

Again I got in touch with VMP with my order info after I submitted it and they did a same day turn around. And let me tell you this VMP really knows what they are doing with their tunes. The cars sound is way louder and I love it. And the wind is absolutely beautiful. If you want a car that looks stock for that low key supercharger this bad boy is it.

What modifications do I have to do to my stock coyote engine to make sure the supercharger doesn't ruin my engine? How is it possible to get HP on GT with stock internals? I have the the Stage 3 kit with a 79 mm pulley and I run E I also did the billet OIL Pump gears. Don't get caught up in HP numbers.

Unless you are pounding on it all the time. I am quite happy with mine and with VMP service. I have the kit on my 14' GT, incredible power! Depends on the driver, my traction control gets a work out. From a 75 mph cruise down the freeway and stand on it, traction control wants to take over! HP of this magnitude can be dangerous in any car!

Be responsible and have fun.For those wanting to make over 1, rear-wheel horsepower, the Gen 3 is like a warp drive for your car or truck. And design one they did. Taking what they learned over years in developing the TVS supercharger into a more efficient unit, VMP built a version of the 2.

More than just larger version of its cousin, the is not only 15 percent larger, but it features a degree rotor twist to its four-lobe rotors compared with the degree version in the smaller TVS. This new design is going to create huge horsepower in the performance aftermarket arena. These CAD drawings show the differences between the two blower cases. While Eaton builds its own superchargers, the company also offers the rotor packs to a variety of companies — both OEM and aftermarket.

As one of those customers, VMP takes on the challenge to build what it views as the best housing to maximize the efficacy of those rotors. Next after fitment, we design for maximum horsepower and reliability.

The Gen3 gets an all-new throttle body mounting flange and two new throttle body options, for more airflow. According to Eaton, the R rotor pack is 4 percent more efficient and requires 18 percent less power to drive the unit, but the big news is obviously a lot more airflow due to the increased displacement of the unit when compared with its series predecessor.

Moreover, the design of the facilitates the same sort of area under the curve as its smaller TVS forbearer, but with a much higher flow potential. We are able to spin the new just as fast as the old To feed this beast, VMP developed a massive new throttle body for race applications. This is crucial, as positive displacement superchargers flourish with less inlet restriction. The company even plans to offer a rib belt drive to ensure slip-free performance in all-out applications.

Initially these superchargers will be available as upgrades for existing TVS applications, and as part of complete supercharger upgrade kits. The company is currently exploring a Gen3 option for that platform as well.

Drag Racing.Submit your Mustang's Info Here! Fitment: Details. You definitively need a spare underpant the first time you run this The power gain is phenomenal, worth every hours worked on Kit come complete with all hose and wire, no need to splice a wire or cut tube, all part fit nicely in place. The only negative point is the installation instruction. Some info are just not right and you have to figured it out yourself. Roush have some pretty instruction though but not all step all common to both supercharger.

This kit is complete. He does not need anything. In the dyno gave hp in the wheels and of torque with gasoline 93octanos. Pure power. You will need some drag tires to use all that power otherwise you will not be able to pull it out of the hole.

The gains are real. I got everything installed at my friends shop. My car feels like a jet now. In order for everything to work properly, you are going to need a custom VMP tune. The tune is included in the kit price, but it does require an SCT tuner. The custom tune will then be emailed to you and you can download it onto the tuner. After all is said and done, you do not need to get the car dyno tuned. It will already have the appropriate tune that will make the car function properly with the supercharger.

No it will not fit under the strut tower brace that comes with the performance pack. Is there a strut brace that will fit over this blower?

I see there is one shown in the photos but can't find it on the website. This is something that made need to be custom fabricated.Discussion in ' Forced Induction - 5. Vmp gen 3 vs gen3 whipple Discussion in ' Forced Induction - 5. Dream50 Active Member. What setup would you guys recommend that have experience with these setups. Car is a mustang mt I've actually never been in a TVS car. Well I was in a friends with a roush blower but it wasn't a wide open throttle run.

I should hit him up for a full run and see how it feels. I would really like to take a run in a blower car and compare To me the Whipple almost feels like a centri up top. The crazy thing is under load the blower will make crazy boost at low RPM. My car is a 6MT with 3. A little stab of the throttle in 6th can result in 8psi before rpm.

I hate doing that to the engine but I have to admit its kind of cool. Easy decision. Whichever one doesn't require you to cut off metal from the motor. Burkey Well-Known Member. NewTekBuzz likes this. I have a Gen 2r with the 82mm pulley on 93 and Intake cams. Obviously not a gen 3 or whipple but I feel like the VMP blowers get a bad name from some. This is pretty low boost. Either one is going to max out a stock block and both are going to make great power and pretty much be maintenance free which is a huge plus.

Cant go wrong with either one, I personally prefer the whipple as theres less modifications that need to be done and the power delivery seems relatively more linear and just crazy up top.

To improve on this already great design, we made the inlet plenum behind the rotorpack even BIGGER, we expanded the mouth of the inlet to accept even larger throttle bodies but kept a standard bolt pattern! Roush supercharged Fs can use this blower as well, but there is potential extensive clearanceing and modifications needed.

Fs using the Gen2R in place of the Roush supercharger will likely not be able to reuse the Roush intake system without modification. A new replacement intake is the best option. No reviews available Be the first to Write a Review. The resulting Gen3 unit delivers next-level TVS performance. These rotors are built for more flow and greater efficiency, and VMP designed a blower case and inlet to maximize the efficiency of the design. The proof of that engineering is in dyno results like these.

Pushing The Envelope. We kept pulleying down, and it kept picking up. Before we knew it, the car was knocking on the 1,rear-wheel-horsepower door. The road to 1, was littered with pulls in the high s, proving this Coyote could take the abuse again and again. With a few tune tweaks and some consideration on cool-down time between pulls, the 1,plus number happened. The result was over 1, horsepower at the rear wheels with bolt-ons and race gas.

Despite the degree weather in Florida, the blower-discharge temperatures were under degrees, so it is really efficient at creating that kind of power. While at lower boost levels, the Gen3 is comparable to its smaller siblings; its upside is substantially greater. However, our ceiling is now much higher in terms of ultimate airflow potential.

To that end, if you are keeping boost down, fuel and tuning is very similar to our Gen2 and Gen2R blowers. Powerful Potential. Custom cams and cylinder head porting work generally net to rear-wheel horsepower over a stock Coyote at higher boost levels. For purpose-built race motors, even higher gains are possible. To that end, the VMP team is already testing the new supercharger on a purpose-built Coyote race engine. On the left you can see the final result of the VMP Gen3 TVS on a stock Coyote engine, which was a stunning 1, horsepower and lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels.

On the right you can see how the Gen3 green compares with the Gen2R on race gas blue.

To show just how efficient the new blower is, the red run is the Gen 3 at lower boost. Where the Gen2R was maxed out on the stock engine, the Gen3 allows pushing the performance to a much higher level. With a non-lockup TH transmission, 4. Suspension setup is critical, along with gear selection, and converter selection.

The car is currently only geared for the eighth mile. If you try to quarter-mile race her car it runs out of RPM around the 1,foot mark. The converter is getting re-stalled to handle the extra power from the Gen3. We will safeguard your e-mail and only send content you request.
